President Akufo-Addo has mandated an audit into the contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML). The audit, to be conducted by KPMG, is scheduled to span a two-week period.
In a press statement from the Presidency, communicated by Communications Director Eugene Arhin, specific terms of reference for the KPMG audit were outlined, showcasing the President’s dedication to ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of the contractual agreement between the GRA and SML.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has engaged the reputable Audit, Tax, and Advisory Services firm, KPMG, to immediately conduct an audit into the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Ghana Ltd (SML). This contract was established to bolster revenue assurance in the downstream petroleum sector, upstream petroleum production, and the minerals and metals resources value chain,” a portion of the release stated.
President Akufo-Addo has further directed the GRA and the Ministry of Finance to comply with his instructions and provide KPMG with all necessary documentation for the impending audit.
“The President has instructed the Ministry of Finance and GRA to extend full cooperation to KPMG for the audit and has also directed the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority to suspend the execution of the contract until the audit report, inclusive of any anticipated payments under its terms, is submitted,” the release concluded.
