During the early hours of New Year’s Day, a communal conflict erupted in Atwima Agogo and Atwima Twedie, resulting in the unfortunate vandalism of numerous vehicles, houses, and school properties.
The genesis of this conflict can be traced back to a misunderstanding between the two communities on Christmas Eve, wherein residents of Atwima Agogo reportedly launched an attack on those from Atwima Twedie. This initial clash led to the destruction of vehicles, houses, and personal belongings in Twedie.
In response to the aggression, Twedie residents retaliated by storming Atwima Agogo, causing damage to properties in both Agogo and Boaso. Though the police swiftly intervened to control the situation, the aftermath of the clash has left residents living in fear and has disrupted transport services in the affected area.
